If you haven’t been to King Taps yet, you should do yourself a favour and plan your next night out there! To be honest, we discounted King Taps to be just another ‘suit bar’ in the Financial District – however the age old saying “never judge a book by its cover” couldn’t have been more true in this case. Yes, this bar is in the heart of Bay Street, and yes, it definitely brings in the suit crowd, but the extensive beer list (complimented with solid wine & cocktail offerings as well), fantastic food (you must try their pizzas), friendly service & awesome music (they have live music or DJ’s every day) quickly makes you forget where you are.
Spanning 2 floors at First Canadian Place, King Taps is relatively new to the scene but has quickly developed a loyal following. Our one criticism would be that we found the beer flights to be slightly expensive at $12, and you are limited to their pre-selected flights only – which is a shame as they have over 50 beers on-tap. Overall, King Taps is our new go-to bar in the downtown core, and given their location and how busy they are – their generous specials are an added bonus.
Pro Tip: Just go – but make reservations whenever possible. Tuesdays are a great budget friendly option with both half-price pizzas (2-5pm, 10pm-close) & half-price wine (all day).
Daily food specials: All pizza’s ½ price – 2pm-5pm & 10pm to close
Late-night drink specials: $5 King Taps Collabs (beer) & $5 Cucumber Mules – 10pm to close
Monday: $3.50 King Taps Collabs (beer)
Tuesday: All bottles of wine ½ price
Saturday & Sunday: $6 all rotating tap beers, $5 (5oz) & $8 (8oz) selected wines, $5 Cucumber Mules, $5 Cajun Caesars
